Faktakini.info, Jakarta - Floods are still flooding a number of sub-districts in Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan Province. The water level rose again, ranging from 1 to 3 meters.
Plt. Head of the Center for Disaster Data, Information and Communication at the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Abdul Muhari, said the floods caused two deaths and 24,522 families or 87,496 people were affected.
"Material losses were temporarily recorded, namely 21,000 housing units and 5 affected bridge units, as well as places of worship which were also flooded," he explained, Sunday (11/7/2021).
But thank God the Islamic Brotherhood Front (FPI) through its HILMI Fighting Wing swiftly went down to the disaster site and provided various assistance.
On Friday (5/11) at 22.00 WITA, HILMI FPI West Kalimantan volunteers left for the flood disaster area in Sintang district, which was coordinated by Nopi MS with other volunteers, then opened a post and a soup kitchen which is still operating today.
Apart from self-help funds from the West Kalimantan FPI, the FPI HILMI Public Kitchen also received donations from the community to be distributed to flood victims in Central Manyumbong Village, Raja Village, Mensiku District, Sintang Regency and other areas.
"Yesterday we received rice assistance from Pemuda Melayu Sintang, 20 sacks of rice @ 5 kg were received by the Hilmi West Kalimantan public kitchen team. Then a donation from Mr. ICA Bandung (West Java) in the form of Rp. 500,000 to BNI account, Mr. Firman, was received by the Hilmi West Kalimantan public kitchen team. And received assistance from Mr. Agus, one of the entrepreneurs in Sintang, in the form of basic necessities and baby equipment," said Nyak Munzir to Faktakini.info, Saturday (20/11).
On this day also, HILMI FPI West Kalimantan volunteers distributed aid to Christian flood victims at the Athehia Church, Mekar Jaya Village, Kapuas Kiri Hilir Village, Sintang Regency. Receiving assistance in the form of food, baby and women's equipment, Mrs. RT Athehia Church Management was very touched and thanked HILMI FPI for all this assistance. "Thank you all. May the Lord Jesus bless you," he said.
Nyak Munzir also shared how he felt when distributing aid in flood-affected areas because there was a clean water crisis in the Mekar Jaya area and the situation on the ground had not made it possible for HILMI FPI Volunteers to reach several other points.
"Alhamdulillah, today we have handed over assistance in the form of food, baby equipment and women's equipment in the village of blooming jaya... to the RT lady of the local church management... because the condition in the village is in a clean water crisis... so our aid has not yet been able to reach the village. the rambai is still far in... We didn't share door to door... because the water conditions had receded, it took a small boat to reach house to house. at the location of the low tide... the speed boat had to be lifted... local residents help.. They see there is rice wrap... I'm sad to hear the words 'our children haven't eaten' from them, so I heard it blankly... we will distribute it in the village first.. then we will try to go to rambai village... Like a fault village... until now people's houses are still sinking... the information from the community, then God willing, we will move and help in these locations," said Nyak Munzir.
FPI High Priest Habib Rizieq Shihab has always advised that all FPI Management and Volunteers and all of their Fighting Wings must care and participate in every disaster and disaster location. Therefore, Christians, Catholics, Buddhists, Hindus and others are still being helped as best they can by HILMI FPI Volunteers, including at the Athehia Church in Mekarjaya Village, Kapuas Kiri Hilir Village, Sintang Regency today.
"Help all victims regardless of ethnicity and religion. Never consider the calamity that befell our brothers as a burden for us, but it is a humanitarian obligation", Habib Rizieq ordered.
Habib Rizieq gave a mandate to all ranks of FPI so that in providing assistance wherever the disaster location is, never discriminate against ethnicity, religion or background from the people we want to help.
"All people, whoever they are who gets a disaster, we must help regardless of ethnicity, culture, customs and even religion, all must be helped," said Habib Rizieq.
